There are more than three hundred engineering colleges in the state and more than seventy branches are available for admission. This admission process is based on the percentile marks of CET and JEE-Main through CET cell. This process (Engineering Admission 2021) was conducted completely online last year.
The three major stages of this admission process are registration after MHT-CET Result, document verification and the third stage is filling the option form for the first and second rounds.
Last year, due to covid, the government made an arrangement through CET cell so that the entire process can be done online and from home.
Probably this year too it may be fully online. In this, two rounds were conducted online. The last round was conducted at college level for vacancies.
Through JEE-Main there is fifteen percent quota in state private colleges and through MHT-CET 85 percent seats are filled in state private colleges.
Admissions to Government or Government Autonomous Colleges in the state are mainly 100% through MHT-CET. For example, in COEP, Pune, hundred percent seats are filled through MHT-CET.
Students should note that there is no quota for 'JEE Main'; Also all reservation rules are applicable for engineering admission process. Also seats are filled through 'Home University' (HU) and 'Other Than Home University' (OHU). For example, 70 percent seats are reserved for students from Pune, Nagar and Nashik in colleges under Savitribai Phule Pune University.
30% seats are available under Savitribai Phule Pune University for students coming from Nagpur, Kolhapur, Nanded, Jalgaon, Mumbai. Naturally 30 percent seats are more competitive.
All the documents in the registration process as per your category; Also Domicile Certificate is mainly important and you have to upload it.
If any deficiency is found in the screening process, you are informed about it through 'Login'. The next important step is the quality list.
You can see many types of Merit numbers in the login and then you are given the facility to register the option for the first round i.e. fill the 'Option Form'.
Only one option form has to be filled through 'JEE Main' and 'MHT-CET' and we can register 300 options there. One of the options in COEP is 'Computer Science', we can enter several options in this form in descending order of interest. Last year the 'MHT-CET' exam was held in September, so the admission process was very long and it was going on till February this year. In 2021 this admission process is expected to start after the result of MHT-CET. Knowing about the documents required to get the government scholarship and applying for those documents on time will be helpful to get the scholarship.
Procedures in private universities in the country
Based on the marks obtained in these admission processes, the various campuses of these universities; Also options of available branches have to be recorded.
Admission is determined by registering for the option obtained through it. The location, fee, placement of these universities as well as the language, culture, food culture, hostel and other facilities can be taken into consideration. A decision should be made by comparing the options between Maharashtra and these universities.
Procedure in the State
After 2017, many reputed institutes were granted the status of private universities by the state government. Twenty nine private universities of the state are participating in this. Engineering education is being imparted through many universities. For Maharashtra CET, JEE Main; Also, admission is given through several options like separate CET of private universities (eg WPU MEET, SET etc.) and combined 'Pera CET' of all private universities. For admission to these private universities, it is necessary to register separately on their website for the admission process conducted by them. Students should note that this admission process is not done through CET Cell; Also, the admission process of these universities takes place before the admission process of this government, so it is necessary to pay attention to the schedule on their website.
