Component of blood | What is blood and RBC

Blood is body fluid which is circulated in our body.

It is circulated in closed system specialised connective tissue.

Origin of blood is mesodermal.

It is slightly alkaline having PH 7.2 to 7.4.

Average volume of blood in adult is 4.5 to 6 L.

Specific gravity is 1.055 to 1.060.

The colour of blood is dark red in vein and bright red in artery.

The component of blood is divided into cellular part and liquid part.

The main function of blood is transportation, defence and coagulation.

Component of Blood

Cellular part is composed of 45% and liquid part is composed of 55%.

The cellular part consist RBC,WBC and platelate.

The liquid part consist of plasma portion.

RBC (Red Blood corpuscles)

RBC is Red Blood Corpuscles or Erythrocyte.

Rbc diameter is 7.2 nanometer, thickness is 2 nanomater, area is 120Sq. volume is 87 nanometer.

It is biconcave, non-nucleated without mitochondria.

Bi-concave shape of Rbc is due increase surface area that provide maximum absorption of oxygen.

Rbc mainly consist of pigment called Hemoglobin.

Heam is iron part of Rbc and Globin is a protein.

Average lifespan of Rbc is 120 days.

Average count of Rbc is 4.5mi/cumm to 5mi/cumm.

Average hemoglobin is 12.5 to 16gm in adult.

Formation of Rbc called erythripioesis.

The lysis of Rbc takes place in liver and spleen. I

f Rbc count decrease called erythrocytopenia.

Rbc count increase called erythrocytosis.
